Oudtshoorn, Oudtshoorn Rural
*Joint Mandate*
This 557-ha farm is situated between the Outeniqua Mountain Range and Oudtshoorn, only 45 km from George and 26 km from Oudtshoorn.
This farm is very well located and has great potential for further development in a range of opportunities in agriculture and tourism.
The farm consists of 153 hectares of contoured drylands, 60ha of irrigation fields and the rest is natural veld with a river that runs through the farm. The farm has water rights out of an 8,3-ha dam with 60 hectares of irrigation fields that consist of 10ha of producing pecan nut trees, 12ha of established lucerne (alfalfa) under permanent sprinklers and the rest can be irrigated with movable systems or flood irrigation. Crops that are rotated on the irrigation and dryland fields are lucerne, oats and barley. All the fields that are currently irrigated are irrigated with gravity pressure alone; no pressure pumps are used.
Infrastructure on the farm includes a spacious 3-bedroom main house with a separate flat connected to the house with its own access, a large enclosed 200 m² barn, 5 labourers houses, and 3 additional storage sheds.
Electricity is supplied by a 25 kVA 3-phase Eskom connection.
The advertised price excludes VAT. The farm can be purchased as a running concern if the purchaser complies. A List of equipment and tools that are currently used on the farm is included in the sale, and a list will be made available after a farm visit to potential purchasers.
This farm’s reliable water source and irrigation under gravity pressure puts this farm a step above the rest.
